Latest Car Tech You'll Love
Automotive technology is getting more advanced, and it is happening fast. If you’re looking for a car this year, you’ll probably be shocked with how many gadgets and features you can choose from. You may not find them all useful, but regardless of price point it shouldn’t be too hard to find a vehicle that has most of these features. The majority of the vehicles listed on Clutch.ca come loaded with these following features. There is even a filter for “Loaded with Options” if they are full of new tech.
Here we have gathered some of the most recent tech features you’ll find in the automotive world this year.
This may seem super futuristic, but automotive HUDs have been with us for a while. They were first used in military fighter jets. This is both a tech feature and a safety feature. HUDs make it easy to see the road through their glass display which helps you avoid taking your eyes off the road. The device displays the car’s speed, warning signals, and navigation arrows for direction.
2. BLIND SPOT MONITORS
Many accidents happen because of unseen vehicles in our blind spots – especially with added safety and air bags causing car frames to be wider and more substantial but lowering visibility. Now cars are being made safer by adding blind spot monitors. It’s a vehicle-based sensor that detects other vehicles that you may not see. The alerts can be visual, audible or vibrating.
3. REVERSE CAMERA
If your car doesn’t currently have a backup camera, your next vehicle most likely will as it’s required in all new manufactured cars. The biggest benefit that comes from having a rear-facing camera is that it expands your field of vision so you have a much clearer and more accurate view of obstacles behind your car. Another benefit to a backup camera is that it can help you park more quickly and safely. It’s a feature you won’t want to give up once you have it. Almost all Clutch Cars come with this feature.
4. LANE DEPARTURE WARNING
Getting distracted while driving happens. Sometimes we pay a little less attention to the road than we should. The Lane Departure Warning system uses cameras to determine if a car has drifted across a marked lane line. It can let you know visually, with audio or sometimes with a vibration sent through the seat or steering wheel. Some cars even take over the wheel and will adjust you back into your lane! This feature comes in handy for long road trips.
5. HEATED STEERING WHEEL
On a cold day there is nothing like hitting the button and having a nice warm steering wheel to hold on to. Heated steering wheels are becoming much more common. They are in numerous cars, trucks and SUVs. Once you’ve enjoyed a warm steering wheel on a cold day, you will never want to go without one.
6. APPLE CARPLAY AND ANDROID AUTO
Apple CarPlay & Android Auto were designed to get rid of the urge to take a quick look at your phone while driving. It takes the user interface from your phone and puts it onto the screen of your car dashboard. Most cars require you to plug your phone into the USB port, but some newer models now support wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, which works by connecting your phone to the car’s Bluetooth. It’s safer, easier and more convenient. It allows you to check most of your apps, your messages on screen and provides easy access to your music and navigation.
7. STOLEN VEHICLE TRACKING SOFTWARE
It would be a terrible feeling to walk up to where you parked your car, to find it no longer there. The main benefits of this sort of tracking device that often uses GPS technology is that it may help you find your stolen car and may even prevent theft in the first place. If a criminal gets away with a tracked car, it can be located within seconds just by using a smartphone or computer. It would provide the police with the exact location of the car giving you peace of mind.
8. KEYLESS ENTRY & PUSH-BUTTON
Convenience is key! This feature allows you to fire up your car's engine without fumbling for a key in your pocket or purse. You’ll see this feature in many of the cars we sell online at Clutch.ca.
9. SEAT MEMORY
It can be a pain if you always have to adjust your seat back to what is comfortable for you because someone else was in the car. Memory Seats are power adjusted seats where you can save your favourite seating position. This comes in handy when you’re in a hurry or just simply want to remember where you had that perfect seating position.
10. DUAL ZONE CLIMATE CONTROL
Dual-zone Climate Control is a feature that is springing up more and more often in vehicles today and it’s very different from air conditioning. People can run at different temperatures, one passenger can be warmer or colder than the other. Thanks to Dual-zone Climate Control we have more freedom to be more comfortable. Dual-zone climate control is when two separate sections of the vehicle can maintain different preferred temperatures that work for them. Now we can all be a happy temperature on those long car rides.
