Overview
The Honda CR-V has long been renowned for reliability and practicality, and the 2025 model continues this legacy. The 2025 Honda CR-V features a sleek exterior design and a spacious interior that caters to comfort and functionality.
Available in five trim levels — LX LX AWD, Sport, EX-L Hybrid, and Touring Hybrid — the 2025 CR-V includes robust features that serve everyday driving needs and adventurous journeys. With Honda's commitment to environmental sustainability, the CR-V also emphasizes hybrid options, providing an eco-friendly alternative without sacrificing performance.
The 2025 CR-V also commits to safety, and it shows this by including standard Honda Sensing® across all trims. This suite of safety and driver-assistive features, such as automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist, gives you additional peace of mind on every journey.
Honda also emphasizes infotainment technology, giving the 2025 CR-V several touchscreen display options and great connectivity options, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Pros
- Roomy Cabin: The 2025 CR-V boasts a spacious cabin with loads of headroom and legroom in the front and rear seats. It can also handle all the sports equipment and groceries you can toss at it with 1,028-1,003 litres of cargo room with the rear seats up. If you plan on hauling more, you can drop the rear seats and have 2,030-2,166 litres of cargo space.
- Safety: The 2025 CR-V also has an impressive suite of safety features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision mitigation braking. These enhancements increase both safety and driving confidence.
- Fuel economy: The 2025 Honda CR-V stands out in fuel efficiency in its base setup, but the hybrid model gives buyers a whole new level of efficiency.
Cons
- Underpowered base engine: While the turbocharged base engine is peppy, some critics note it feels underwhelming when fully loaded or during highway merging.
- Busy infotainment system: The CR-V has large enough infotainment screens for the compact SUV segment. However, some users have mentioned the infotainment interface is clunky at times and has a steep learning curve.
- Vanilla design: We get it that the Honda CR-V’s design targets a broad audience, so over-the-top styling isn’t in the cards. That said, the 2025 CR-V feels a little too bland in a class filled with exciting and modern designs catering to younger families.
The 2025 Honda CR-V is ideal for a diverse range of drivers, but it’s best for families seeking a roomy alternative to a family sedan that still delivers good efficiency. These families will appreciate the spacious interior and advanced safety features, making it a reliable option for daily commutes and road trips. Meanwhile, the tech-savvy individual will find the infotainment system options appealing and smartphone connectivity seamless.
What's new?
The Honda CR-V underwent a significant overhaul in 2023, ushering in a more mature and upscale design inside and out. It also received numerous technological upgrades, such as larger touchscreen options and more. With this update still fresh, the 2025 Honda CR-V has no notable changes.

Performance
Performance
The CR-V’s performance is commendable, with a smooth ride and competent handling. Honda fine-tuned its suspension to effectively absorb road imperfections so everyone inside remains comfortable, even on bumpy roads.
Under its hood, the 2025 Honda CR-V has a pair of options. The base engine is a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque. That’s plenty of power around town, and it feels confident from light to light. However, merging on the highway and hauling a full load feels a touch sluggish.
The optional 2.0-litre hybrid powertrain delivers 204 horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque. Rarely does a hybrid feel better than its gasoline counterpart, but this is one of those rare cases. This combination delivers smooth performance, and the low-RPM torque from its electric motors makes acceleration — even when loaded down — zippy.

Fuel Efficiency
Fuel Efficiency
Fuel efficiency is one of the hallmarks of the 2025 Honda CR-V. Of course, the hybrid model leads the charge with consumption numbers of 6 L/100 km city, 6.9 L/100 km highway, and 6.4 L/100 km combined.
The hybrid is great, but even the traditional gasoline-only model excels. The base model’s consumption ratings are 8.4 L/100 km city, 7 L/100 km highway, and 7.8 L/100 km combined. Add in optional all-wheel drive (AWD), and these numbers increase slightly to 9.1 L/100 km city, 8.6 L/100 km highway, and 8.4 L/100 km combined.

Comfort
Comfort
Comfort is never an issue in the 2025 CR-V, thanks to its comfortable seating and an airy, spacious cabin. Throughout the CR-V, Honda added loads of premium materials and soft-touch surfaces. Plus, you get upscale perforated leather seating in higher trim levels for enhanced comfort and luxury.
Honda didn’t forget about the folks in the rear, as they also get comfortable seats and upscale materials.

Tech
Tech
The 2025 Honda CR-V's technological features leave little to desire. It has a standard 7-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 9-inch system in the EX-L Hybrid and Touring Hybrid trims. Both systems include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but only the 9-inch system has wireless functionality—a sore spot of the 7-inch system.
The CR-V also includes optional in-car Wi-Fi, but the downside is it’s only on the two highest trims, and there is no option to add it to lower trims. Charging ports are also lacking, as it only has one USB-C and one USB-A port up front in its bottom three trims. You don’t get two rear USB-C ports until the EX-L and Touring trims. Having rear charging ports is important if you have kids, as they will want to charge their gadgets on the road.

Space
Space
One of the CR-V's defining traits is its abundant interior space. Rear seat riders enjoy 1,042 mm of legroom, 970 mm of headroom, and 1,421 mm of shoulder room.
Cargo room is another shining light for the 2025 Honda CR-V. With its rear seats upright, hauling a week’s worth of groceries or sports equipment is a breeze with 1,028-1,113 litres of cargo space. If you need to haul even more, you can lower the rear seats and unlock 2,030-2,166 litres of cargo room.

Style
Style
The 2025 Honda CR-V showcases a modern design language, featuring bold lines and a streamlined silhouette that exudes a more mature look than previous generations. However, the CR-V feels a little vanilla because so many other compact SUVs cater to the younger crowds with more exciting looks. However, its timeless look and ability to span a wide range of buyers bumps its score way up.
Available in six colour options, the CR-V allows for some personalization. However, it lacks some of the bolder colour options of others in its class, so some younger buyers may feel it doesn’t suit them.

Reliability
Reliability
Honda has a long reputation for delivering superior reliability. However, in the latest J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, which took place in 2023, Honda fell to below average as a brand. Plus, the CR-V won no individual awards or mentions.
This is uncharacteristic of the brand, so we expect it to return to form in the next study.

Safety
Safety
Safety remains a top priority for Honda, and the 2025 CR-V is no exception. The 2025 CR-V hasn’t been through IIHS testing yet, but the identical 2024 model was an IIHS Top Safety Pick. It received “Good” crash test ratings in all but the updated moderate overlap test. It received a “Poor” rating in that update test, but so did many other compact SUVs.
As for safety technology, the CR-V has tons. It has advanced features like full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, and more.

Value
The Honda CR-V has lots to offer, but it also commands a relatively high price tag in its segment, ranging from $35,725 to $49,820. Honda CR-V tends to hold its value longer than other vehicles in its class, but that high entry is a tough pill to swallow.
For comparison’s sake, the 2025 Hyundai Tucson starts at $34,499, and the Kia Sportage starts at just $33,080. Both of these models have features similar to those of the CR-V.
